The Pirate Bay: The Site is Safe, Even If We Lose in Court
In an few hours from now The Pirate Bay team will probably be charged with aiding or facilitating copyright infringement. If they are found guilty, they could receive sentences of up to 2 years in prison, but the site will remain online, no matter what.
FTA: "For those who are interested, all the legal documents the police collected in the upcoming case can now be bought form the Swedish police for only $1000."
I would love to see those legal documents show up on TPB for download...
Go Pirate Bay!!

Domain Tasters Can Now Eat Dirt
Domain tasting might sound like a leisurely Sunday afternoon activity, but ICANN isn't amused, and it has just proposed a crackdown plan that could make "tasting" and "front running" of domains an unprofitable activity. Finally! I've been hoping for something like this for years. Even a small fee (twenty cents or so) would be devastating to a company that goes through 45 million domains. Of course, to you or me (normal users who only pick up a few domains, ever) a 20 cent fee isn't a big deal.I honestly can't believe it's taken them this long.

A swarm of 150,000,000 crabs invades an island in Northwestern Australia to mate. Each female crab lays around 100,000 eggs in the sand. They hatch at around the same time, so there might be as many as 75 trillion crabs on that island at once!

[Video]Stephen Colbert impersonates Tom Cruise
In a scientological way, of course.
That was absolutely hilarious. Tom Cruise is just a guy who has acted in some movies, and has a lot of money. The fact that people likes his movies doesn't mean that anything he says has any more merit than anyone else. He's a shill, he's a tad "off", and scientology is a horrible scam that rich people like to play with. Fine, do whatever you want with your time and your money, just don't inflict anything on anyone else, and don't impose your beliefs onto anyone else.
Colbert fucking nailed that impression. FTW.

Firefighter: Giuliani 'ran like a coward on 9/11'
Let the truth be heard: Rudy is a scam!
Judy Gulianni is scum. This guy was warned 40 minutes before the collapse and he ran and failed to evacuate the area and the buildings. Add to it he and Whitman told everyone to go back to ground zero when they knew the EPA reports about the air quality dictated the opposite. Judy should be prosecuted for manslaughter. I've served him in a restaurant he used to frequent and wittnessed a taste of his vulgar nature and disrespect for the working person, let alone how disgustingly he dealt with waitresses. Judy's Law Practice also deals major business with dictators of the Middle East and is in charge of selling off American highways to foreigners to be turned into toll roads for profit. He's also made hundreds of millions from war profiteering. America should get this guy alone in a dark alley and deliver justice. It's a disgrace that he's running for president.

Worlds Largest Swimming Pool 3500 Ft Long!
Measuring almost 3,500 ft in length, The San Alfonso del Mar seawater pool in Algarrobo, Chile has been named the world's largest outdoor swimming pool by the Guiness Book of World Records.
From what I've read (and I've never been to Chile so I'm not sure), the Chilean beaches are very dangerous because the continental shelf drops off very near the coast, creating dangerous riptides and undertows. Supposedly it's actually illegal to swim in the ocean near that resort because it is so dangerous - you have to drive a few miles from that resort to get to the closest swimming beach. And then when you do, the water is pretty cold.So yeah, it might seem silly and a waste of money, but if at least it provides a chance to swim in a safe environment.

College textbook prices up 186% since 1986; enter revolution
The U.S. Department of Education released a study that states since 1986, textbook prices have risen almost 186 percent, or 6 percent a year. This is four times the amount of inflation. With college bookstores not doing much to fix problems, entrepreneurs and Web 2.0 companies are trying to revolutionize the textbook industry with easy solutions.
I always liked how various editions of, say, an Ancient Rome textbook came out every year. Really? That much has changed in ANCIENT FUCKING ROME in 2007 that required a new edition?? One would think, you know, being ANCIENT FUCKING ROME, shit would stay pretty much the same.

Heath Ledger is Dead
TMZ has learned that Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has died in NY. He was found in Soho at 3:35 PM ET, dead in his bed. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime. Story developing...
Wikipedia: "At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near body."
